Crew Driven Innovation Recognised at Sjömanshusets Belöningsdag 2026
Terntank is proud to announce that seven of our crew members were honoured at Stiftelsen Sveriges Sjömanshus Belöningsdag 2026, recognising practical innovation, safety improvements and contributions to life at sea. The awards reflect the strong safety culture, professionalism and teamwork.
The recognised initiatives are crew driven solutions developed on board to improve everyday operations. Examples include utilising surplus heat from the main engine to warm the crew pool without additional energy use, strengthening readiness on the fast rescue boat through onboard tools and troubleshooting guidance, safer work at height through colour coded safety harnesses, and improved access for safer maintenance of deck lighting. Together, these measures enhance safety, efficiency and crew wellbeing.
A Honorary award is given to Niklas Johansson, HR Manager at Terntank, for his long standing commitment to seafarer wellbeing and to Stiftelsen Sveriges Sjömanshus. Niklas actively encourages crew engagement in the Belöningsdag initiative, supports research related to safety and working conditions at sea, and is widely respected for his genuine care for our seagoing personnel. His background at sea brings valuable understanding to his role and strengthens the link between shore and vessel.
These recognitions underline Terntank’s belief in empowering our crews to turn experience and initiative into tangible improvements that make daily work on board safer and better.
